Good evening friends,
I know what you're thinking. "Why did I even bother signing ol' Southpaw's mailing list? He never does anything! One message every 3 months about some crappy show at a terrible time in a tourist-encumbered coffee shop? That ain't gonna cut it! I thought I was gonna get regular updates on the status of an up-and-coming songwriter's career. I get more pleasure out of my estranged uncle forwarding Rush Limbaugh transcripts!"
You're right, you're right, my ambition fluctuates like my love interests. Coincidentally enough, the two are indirectly proportionate. But that's another story. I'm here to apologize for becoming exceedingly inconsistent. And I'm not making any promises, but I really think that's all about to change. Why, in this message alone, I've got two huge announcements to deliver.
Numero oon, I will be releasing a brand new CD, The Southpaw Jones Starter Kit, three weeks from today on Friday, December 3, 1999. No joke! It's what people in the business call a "studio album," and I think it sounds pretty dang good. Hopefully, the sounds captured therein will induce some head-bobbing, some knee-slapping, some tear-sopping, and some "What the frump was he thinking?" reactions.
I won't bore you with the details here, because I spent a great deal of energy putting a preview up on my new web site, http://southpawjones.com. (That's my second big announcement.) Now, I had to do the page on Tripod, which forces nasty ads upon the eyes of each surfer, but I hope you can learn to ignore them as I have. (Just press Alt+F4 as soon as they pop up.)
The online preview provides some insight into the big project as well as a few interesting facts. For example, did you know that the Starter Kit contains over an hour of music? Yeah! So please check it out. You don't even have to type in www! I suppose I'll let all this big news settle in for now. I'll certainly be back at the e-mailin' to build excitement during the next three weeks. By the way, the actual release party will be at Sam & Zoe's that Friday night. Keep all this in mind as you plan your Christmas purchases. You can't top giving someone a CD they can't find in stores, supporting local music, AND spreading the Westernized vibes of Southpaw Jones!
Build the buzz, keep in touch, and thanks for reading,
Southpaw http://southpawjones.com southpaw@southpawjones.com
